San Ramon Crush finish the indoor season with an exciting win 5-4
SAN RAMON -- The San Ramon Crush finished the indoor season in exciting fashion with a come from behind 5-4 win over the Hurricanes of Danville.
Adrienne Lampo was the goalie in the first half and did a great job in letting the Crush go into half time with a lead. The first goal of the game was by Korah Rose after a nice pass from Vidhi Sachdeva.
The second half started with Hannah Skrentny at goalie. Hannah had another rough outing at goalie and was ready to come out after letting a third goal get past her. Actually, I was taking one of the defenders out of the game and Hannah took herself out. Luckily, Isabela Escalante was playing defender at the time, so Hannah gave the goalie jersey to Isabela and she did a great job of holding down the position when we really needed it. At that time, the Crush were behind 3-2 with under 8 minutes left in the game.
Now, here comes the really strange part about this game. Before the second goal of the game, I told Dawn Ye that I wanted her to go out and get a goal. A few minutes later, she scored her first goal of the season. Once Hannah took herself out of goal, she was pretty down on herself, so I let her calm down a little and then I put her in as right forward and told her she could get those goals back that got past her. Not only did she go out there and score a goal, she scored two of them! Both of them the first two goals for Hannah during the indoor season. Finally, with the score tied 4-4, I took Korah out of her defender position and told her to rest for a minute because I needed her energy out there as a center mid and get us a goal. Korah got a drink, a bit of a break and then she went right out there and scored the winning goal with under 2 minutes left in the game.
Dang, if I had known that all I had to do was go tell the girls to score, I think we would have done much better this year. :)
After the end of the game, all the girls got their 2008 San Ramon U12G League Champion trophies. It was a nice way to finish of the season. Thanks for a lot of fun this year girls. I enjoyed getting to know you all.
