Huskies Blow Up The Dynamites 5-0

SAN RAMON -- This Monday evening at 7:00pm, the San Ramon Huskies took on the Dublin Dynamite under the lights of Central Park. This was the first game back for the Huskies after there devastating loss to the Pride a little over a week ago. This game started similarly, in that the Huskies came out very active and scored early and often. The first goal of the game came from a nice cross by right forward Jeanette Sarkany and a nice left footed finish by right midfield Gabby Silva. This was Gabby’s first goal of the season and one she wanted badly as she’s been close a number of times before.

The second goal was an easy one for Amanda Fornataro, who was in perfect position for a center midfielder after right forward Drew Dudley took a shot on goal that was blocked, but not controlled by, the Dublin goalie. Amanda was right there in front of the goal when the goalie knocked it down and easily knocked it in to make the score 2-0.

The third goal was probably the biggest one, simply because it was scored by Erin Glaser, who has not scored a goal since she was 9 years old. Erin’s twin sister Emily brought the ball down and centered it beautifully. Amanda was not able to get it in, but she managed to get the ball back and made a great leading pass to Erin Glaser who shot it past the goalie.

The fourth and final goal of the first half was a pretty one. It all started with a nice strong throw in from Gabby Silva to Jeanette Sarkany, who brought the ball up the right wing. Jeanette saw an open Drew Dudley, who made a nice trap and quickly passed it over to an open Korah Rose, who made a nice trap and quickly passed it on to Emily Glaser, who finished with a quick one touch scoring shot past the goalie. That was definitely one of my favorite goals of the year because of the nice passes and traps. The Huskies looked like a real team right there and it made me proud to be their coach.

The second was rather slow as players got a chance to try out new positions. One of those new positions was Madeleine Clements playing her first game as goalie. Madeleine did have to make a good stop, but for the most part it was a rather stress free half for her and the defense. The lone goal of the second half came from a nice feed from Caitlin Weber up to Drew Dudley who finished it off with a tough shot from the side of the goal over the goalie’s head. Drew had a very tough angle to deal with and from where I was, I didn’t think she could have scored from where she was.

This was yet another dominating performance by the Huskies. Let’s see if we can keep it going again against the second Dublin team in our league this Saturday.
