Earthquakes take one on the chin, lose 8-3

SAN RAMON -- The Earthquakes got a rematch of last week’s second game against the Orange Crush of Pleasanton. Last week’s game was decided by a single goal and the Earthquakes just missed tying the game in the final seconds. This week’s game wasn’t quite as close. The Orange Crush started the game with two relatively quick goals and never gave up the lead after that. Towards the middle of the second half, the Earthquakes did pull to 3-5, but that was as close as they could get. The Orange Crush managed to score three more goals before the end of the game, making the final score 8-3.

Although the score seemed like a blow out, the game was actually played fairly evenly, other than the great goal keeper work for the Orange Crush. There were no easy goals to be had this game.

This week, Jillian Weber started the scoring for the Earthquakes, followed by Sydney Place and Allison Lee.

Next week, we have the week off, so we won’t have another game until Tuesday, March 10th at 6:20pm. See you all then!

Earthquakes lose a heartbreaker 5-4 to the Orange Crush of Pleasanton

SAN RAMON -- The Earthquakes of San Ramon just missed a tying shot by Erika Shen in the final 5 seconds, and ended up losing a hard fought game 5-4 to the Orange Crush of Pleasanton. It was a well played game between two evenly matched teams. The game could have gone either way, but the Orange Crush came out on top this time around.

Jillian Weber had a hat trick with three nifty goals in the game. Allison Lee, fighting off a smashed left index finger courtesy of the arena door in the first game of the night, added to her goal total for the year by getting the 4th goal of the game for the Earthquakes. Sydney Place played a nice half of goalie. Kaitlin Lord took over the goalie duties in the second half, and was doing a great job, but got injured with a ball to the face. Sarah Kamp took over in a pinch and did a fine job as well.

The Earthquakes will get a second chance at the team from Pleasanton this coming week. This time around, they won’t have to play a game before this one, so we’ll see how they respond.

Earthquakes struck down by Strikers, 4-1

SAN RAMON -- The Earthquakes of San Ramon came up a little short in this first game of a double header. The Strikers were a very aggressive and talented team that will be very difficult to beat this indoor season. The main bright spot of the game was when Sydney Place smacked a hard shot past a diving goalie for her first goal of the season. Sydney did a good job of hanging back as the cener mid and drove the ball nicely for the goal.

Sydney reluctantly played goalie in the second half, but did a very nice job. In fact, she had a blast doing it and requested to be the starting goalie for the second game.

The Earthquakes had 50 minutes to chill and have some snacks before their next game.
