San Ramon Crush Blow by the Hurricanes 6-1

SAN RAMON -- The San Ramon Crush played their best indoor game of the year so far, blowing by the Hurricanes of Danville by a score of 6-1. The first half was completely dominated by the Crush, who managed to score 5 goals in the first 23 minutes. Julia Guesnon scored the first of her 3 goals roughly one minute into the game. Emily Ball followed up with the first of her 2 goals only a couple minutes after Julia’s first goal and the Crush never looked back.

Later in the first half, Vidhi Sachdeva scored her first goal of the season, bringing the score to 5-0. Our main goalie, Adrienne Lampo, shut out the Hurricanes that first half. Since the game was well in hand, Adrienne got the chance to play out in the field in the second half. One funny moment was when Adrienne, playing right forward, got called for a handball. You can take the girl out of the goal, but you can’t take the goalie out of the girl!

Hannah Skrentny took over the goalie duties in the second half, and like she did last week, she played admirably. The only goal that the Hurricanes scored was a high shot that was unstoppable in the last 10 seconds of the game. It is definitely nice to know that we’ve got two girls that not only like playing goalie, but are pretty darn good at it. That’s not counting Caitlin Weber who can definitely fill in on a pinch, as well.

The girls all got to play many positions this game, which was a really good experience for them all. Makena Woon had another strong game playing stopper. Julia Guesnon had a great game as well, especially at the forward position, where she scored 3 goals. She only got to play forward a couple of minutes in the second half, because I put her in defense so someone else could get a chance to score. Emily Ball used her big leg in the center mid position. She did a great job of being patient and waiting for the ball to come into her range. Emily now has the strongest kick on the team and I think we’ll see more games with Emily scoring.

It was a well played game and it was nice to have the girls play in a game that was a little less stressful for once.

Caitlin Weber and isabela Escalante were both absent due to illness.
